What Does Your House Say About You?
When you decide to sell your house you start to think about any work that needs to be done straight away. Going on the assumption that you don’t have to dig asbestos out the walls and you don’t have a sinking foundation you shouldn’t have too much to do. You’ve first got to work out how much value you think you could add to the house. If you’re not going to be able to get the money back once you sell if won’t be worth it. Go through the list of things you’d like to change and work out what you can afford. Form this budget you can see if you can make drastic changes to the structure or whether you just need to stick to a few licks of paint. You might be surprised exactly how much value you can add to your home with just a few simple improvements to your home furniture.
First impressions count. The second you walk through your front door you need to be aware of what they’ll see. If it’s a rundown hallway with tatty carpet and peeling wall paper this is where you need to start. Once you’ve sorted the floors and walls out try adding a nice Brooklyn oak coat stand. This will instantly make the hall appear more organised. The rest of the house will now have the first impression of taste and order.
As you walk into the bedroom again you need to see it for the first time. Work out which is the priority again and start there. You might find this a bit harder as your bedroom is probably the most personal room in your house. You’d be surprised the difference just adding a couple of pieces of stand out furniture can make. For example Venetian mirror furniture would bring a whole new dimension to your room. Be careful not to overdo any statement pieces.
